Man, I’m here less than a month and something had to go wrong. At least it wasn’t me that did it, but it happens to be a show that I’m working on

Yes, as I’m sure many of you have read online by now the news about Sci-Fi Channel running Gurren Lagann on their Ani-Monday starting July 28th. Now, considering that the deal hasn’t been finalized, I can only imagine that panic going on downstairs in our Legal Department.

Needless to say, the grand announcement plans we had just got a massive wrench thrown into the works and Ken Iyadomi, our company president and fearless leader, had to do some serious head-bowing to the Powers-that-Be in charge of the Gurren Lagann Project in Japan.

All we can do is hope and keep our fingers crossed that the deal still goes through. And goes through quickly!

Since there is a big debate online regarding if the broadcast will be in Japanese with subtitles or in English so let me reveal a bit of what’s been going on around here.

The English-language version of Gurren Lagann is currently being produced at Bang Zoom Entertainment under the supervision of Hiroe Tsukamoto of Aniplex of America, myself from Bandai Entertainment along with Bang Zoom’s capable director and producers. We’re working very hard to meet an extremely tight deadline to get it ready for TV broadcast so let’s hope that the deal goes through.

If everything goes as planned, there will be two brand new episodes of Gurren Lagann every Monday which will be really cool when it starts.

The cast you ask? Well, I guess you’ll have to wait until we announce that at Fanime this weekend [ Ed.'s note: Unknown to Toshi at time of writing, we were unable to announce the cast yet for various reasons ^^; Welcome back to the Industry Toshi! ]
